Wine Class – Unsung Grapes

Join Anita Bender on an exploration of lesser known, but never lesser flavored, wine grapes.

Some wine grapes are household names like Merlot or Chardonnay. Others are at least well known by your average wine enthusiast like Grenache or Chenin Blanc. But in a world of around 10,000 unique wine grape varieties, most grapes languish in obscurity, whether that is justified or not. In this class, we will explore wine made with these unsung grapes.

 

Anita Bender will take you on a journey across many wine regions, seeking out grapes you may never have heard of. Some will be native only to small areas that never reach the commercial importance of major regions. Others may have been used primarily as blending grapes in the past, but are able to make beautiful varietal wines when cultivated with care. Join us as we taste, learn, and sing the song of these unsung grapes.
