Celebrate the classic horror film’s 2025 centennial with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony
FARGO, N.D. — The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with the Fargo Theatre to present the 1925 silent film “The Phantom of the Opera” with a live orchestral accompaniment on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM. The performance will take place at the Fargo Theatre.
The event features the iconic horror film, which stars Lon Chaney as the Phantom and is based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel. The movie is celebrated for its pioneering makeup effects and enduring gothic atmosphere.
The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra will perform a live classical score compiled and conducted by Jane Linde Capistran. Capistran’s arrangement incorporates selections from works such as Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Mozart’s Requiem, and Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, among others.
The evening will also include historical commentary from Greg Carlson, a Film Professor at Concordia College, and a performance by organist Andrew Steinberg.
