Some places make sense the second you walk in, and Here And Now is one of them. From the outside, a barber pole and a simple entrance are the only clues to what’s on the other side of the door. Inside, the space opens up into something warmer. Tattoo flash lines the walls. Clippers hum in the background. Conversations move easily between chairs.

Located in downtown Fargo, this mom-and-pop shop blends a tattoo studio and barber shop into one cohesive space. The shop is owned and operated by Meg and Jed Felix, a husband-and-wife team, along with local barber Tori Wiemann. All three have spent many years working downtown, and that experience shapes how the shop feels. It is casual, welcoming, and connected to the neighborhood around it.
People do not just come here for a service. They come back because it feels like home.
Back to the Roots of Tattoo Culture
Before opening Here And Now, Meg worked out of a more private studio in the space. It helped further grow her loyal client base, but it also felt limiting over time. Around the same point, she began rethinking how tattooing could work.

Booking months in advance had become the norm. It kept schedules full, but it also removed some of the spontaneity that once defined tattoo culture. Taking a more approachable method to booking, Meg now books one week at a time. Every Sunday, she posts available openings for the following week. Clients can grab a spot without waiting months, and the process feels more immediate and more personal.
The idea came from traveling and visiting other shops. Walking in, picking something off the wall, and getting tattooed on the spot became some of her favorite experiences. That approach now defines her work. Meg focuses on American traditional tattooing and is available for custom work, with designs ready to choose from in the shop.
Building Around Real Life
The shop grew alongside a major life change.
As Meg and Jed started a family, they were also building the business together. Their daughter June has been part of the from the beginning, joining meetings, visiting potential spaces, and still spends time in the shop today. Instead of following a rigid schedule, they built flexibility into their business. Someone is usually in the shop during the week, but the structure leaves room for real life.

When Jed joined the shop full time, bringing his barbering background, combining both trades felt like a natural fit. The result is a true mom-and-pop shop where both owners are present, working with clients, and shaping the space day to day.
Fellow local barber Tori Wiemann joined more recently, bringing a background in retail and customer service. Her focus on people fits naturally into the shop’s environment, where conversations matter just as much as the work being done.

Part of the Downtown Fabric
What makes Here And Now stand out is not just what they offer, but how they offer it.
The shop feels approachable and accessible. You do not need to plan months ahead. You do not need to have everything figured out before you walk in. You can take your time, look around, and talk things through.
Being downtown means being part of something larger, and the team talks often about supporting local businesses, recognizing familiar faces, and contributing to a neighborhood that relies on connection.
They have seen downtown change over the years, but the core has stayed the same. Small businesses continue to shape the area and give people reasons to return, and that’s why they decided to continue their roots downtown.
It is not trying to be the biggest or the loudest shop. It focuses on good work, steady relationships, and a space that feels grounded. And sometimes that is exactly what people are looking for.

Years in Industry: 13+ years
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Painting, Minnesota State University Moorhead

Meg grew up near Elk River, Minnesota, where creativity was a constant part of daily life. Living on a hobby farm meant spending plenty of time outside drawing, painting, and experimenting with different kinds of art.
After moving to Fargo for college, she studied painting at Minnesota State University Moorhead. During her final year of school, a local tattoo artist offered her an apprenticeship at No Coast Tattoo—an opportunity that would shape the next decade of her career.
Meg has built a reputation for bold American traditional work, focusing on designs that are timeless, clean, and instantly recognizable. Her approach to tattooing is intentionally simple: choose something you love, trust the process, and enjoy the experience.
Jed Felix— Barber & Co-Owner

Specialty: Classic barbering and men’s grooming
Years in Industry: 10+ years
Barber School: Moler Barber College
Availability: Monday–Friday daytime
Jed didn’t originally plan on becoming a barber. Before entering the industry, he worked blue-collar jobs including welding and pipe fitting. But after spending time around tattoo shops and barbers in downtown Fargo, he began considering the trade and eventually he enrolled in barber school in 2014. He quickly realized the work suited him.
Barbering allowed him to continue working with his hands while building relationships with clients who return regularly for conversation as much as for a haircut. Jed spent several years working in Fargo shops before combining forces with his wife to build Here And Now.
Tori Wiemann— Barber

Specialty: Men’s cuts, fades
Years in Industry: Newly-licensed barber
Barber School: Moler Barber College
Availability: Tuesday–Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 9am-4pm
Tori’s path into barbering started in a completely different industry. For more than a decade she worked in retail management, including eight years running a major clothing store with a staff of over 100 employees. That experience made her comfortable working with people and managing fast-paced environments—but she eventually wanted a career that felt more hands-on and creative. That’s when she decided to enroll in barber school and earned her license in October 2025.
Balancing classes, work, and parenting made the process challenging, but she graduated and earned her license last October. Now she’s building her client list at Here And Now, bringing her strong customer service background and people-first mindset into the barber chair.
