Fargo Moorhead Youth Choir Starts Fall Season, Open to New Singers

FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo Moorhead Youth Choir (FMYC) is beginning its fall season with weekly rehearsals starting Sunday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. Rehearsals will be held at the Reineke Fine Arts Center on the North Dakota State University campus.

The choir is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The organization is divided into four groups based on age and grade level:

  • Sapphire Choir: Kindergarten to 1st grade
  • Emerald Choir: 2nd and 3rd grade
  • Ruby Choir: 4th to 6th grade
  • Diamond Choir: 7th to 12th grade

According to Jill McCall, Executive Director of FMYC, the organization aims to provide a space for children to grow musically, personally, and socially. “We strive to build leadership, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts in each child,” McCall said.

Registration for the fall season will remain open until Sunday, September 21, which is also designated as “Bring a Friend Night.” Families are welcome to attend the first couple of rehearsals to determine if the program is a good fit.

The fall season will run weekly through December and conclude with a showcase concert. Tuition for the season ranges from $90 to $180, depending on the grade level, with scholarships and special rates for foster children available.

In addition to the regular season, FMYC offers an optional summer tour. This past summer, the choir traveled to Chicago.

Kenny Lindley, FMYC Board President, highlighted the choir’s mission to provide access to performing arts. “We are thrilled to welcome new members this fall and continue building strong connections through music,” Lindley said.
