FARGO, ND – The Fargo Park District is partnering with RCX Sports and the National Hockey League (NHL) to launch the NHL STREET™ program for youth ages 5 to 14. The program is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2026, at the Fargo Parks Sports Center.
NHL STREET is designed to be an accessible and low-barrier entry point for children new to hockey, offering a way for them to stay active, build friendships, and enjoy the sport without the typical cost, pressure, or equipment associated with traditional play. Equipment will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. Players can register individually, with friends, or as part of a group.
The league will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 pm to 3 pm, a time chosen to provide summer activity options during afternoon hours when programs can be harder for families to find, according to Randi Litchy, Recreation Supervisor. Litchy noted that the afternoon schedule aims to keep kids engaged, social, and active throughout the summer. The schedule includes both a practice and a game on the same day for each team. Age divisions for the league are U8, U10, U12, and U14, with flexibility for groups requesting to play together.
Registration for the program is currently open and will close on May 4, 2026. The cost to participate is $60 per child. The program is eligible for the Fargo Park District Scholarship Program. To learn more or register, interested families can visit fargoparks.com.
