Just before Christmas 2020, Drekker Brewing Company announced a massive new addition just west of their main brewery. In their announcement, Drekker said the new building would be a food & entertainment wonderland — a misfit factory of good times. That’s just what they’ve created and Brewhalla is set to open its doors on March 18th at 1702 1st Ave N in Fargo!
Fargo Underground got a first look at the new ‘experience’ and all it has to offer. Brewhalla is a food hall & market, an event venue, and a hotel. For now, the market and events spaces will be open with the hotel opening later this spring.
As of the opening weekend, the food hall & market will include the following businesses:
- Drekker Brewing Company
- Mångata Wine & Raw Bar
- Luna Market
- Unicorn Park Fine Foodery
- The Bird Woodfire Pizza
- Cows & Co. Creamery
- Nichole’s Fine Pastry
- Duchessa Gelato
- Thunder Coffee
- Unglued
- The Plant Supply
- Red River Refillery
- Livin’ The Dream Pottery
- Bark’n Biscuits
When you enter Brewhalla through the north main doors, you’re immediately greeted by a new taproom counter with all your favorite Drekker beer on tap. To the right is The Magic Factory event space.
To the left, you’ll find the Mångata Wine & Raw Bar. This new creation from Nikki Berglund and Chef Ryan Nitschke, the folks behind Luna, Sol Ave. Kitchen, and Nova Eatery, will bring Fargo-Moorhead a true raw bar experience. The fresh seafood and delicious plates will be a draw unto themselves, and the curated wine bar will be a hot spot for sure.
Just behind Mångata, the Luna Market features unique meat & cheese selections, fresh seafood, and specialty pantry goods for regional gourmets. The market has a nice selection of tinned meats, cooking oils and sauces, pasta, and other specialty cooking essentials.
Along the north wall are two familiar local spots and a much-anticipated new restaurant. First, the Bird Woodfire Pizza is a new shop from Peter “Casey” Absey of Blackbird Woodfire fame. Casey’s pizza-making skills were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We can’t wait to enjoy a slice with a frosty Drekker brew!
Next on the north side is Thunder Coffee. Their new shop brings a regional favorite downtown and they even have a drive-up window! Folks with early morning meetings are going to love having this shop in the building.
Finally, we come to Unicorn Park Fine Foodery in the northeast corner. Another creation from Chef Ryan Nitschke, Unicorn Park will focus on creative dishes featuring ingredients from local farmers and producers. We’ve tasted the preview offerings and we’re all in for some fun eats!
To the southwest, Cows & Co. Creamery offers fresh gouda, cheddar, and more all made with milk from their family dairy farm in Carrington, ND. The shop included Duchessa Gelato made from that same milk!
Nichole’s Fine Pastry is one of the absolute best pastry shops in the region, and now they have a second location inside Brewhalla. Nichole’s offers European and American-style pastries, cakes, pies, and more.
The Plant Supply carries plants, handcrafted pots, and everything you need for your home greenery. The Red River Refillery supplies bulk cleaning and household goods refills to help you go green.
Livin’ The Dream Pottery features handmade ceramic functional dinnerware, sculptures, and uniquely decorated mugs, all made by Hayden Swanson in Moorhead, MN. Bark’n Biscuits carries locally baked dog treats and a variety of cat and dog products.
Finally, in the southeast corner of the first floor, you’ll find the new home of Unglued. They’re a favorite local handmade gift shop featuring the creations of over 200 local makers. They’ll also be hosting craft parties and classes in their 2nd-floor dedicated event space. Don’t forget to look for the Yeobo Sweet Shop inside Unglued!
On the second floor, you’ll find another Drekker tap counter, pinball machines, and lots of spots to sit and enjoy your food and beverages. You’ll also find the Odditorium event space. The Odditorium is perfect for weddings and features two large dressing rooms.
Let’s take a look at the events spaces and businesses inside the new Brewhalla:
Overall, Brewhalla will be an exciting new addition to Fargo-Moorhead, sure to draw locals and tourists alike. For groups and businesses, Brewhalla offers a variety of meeting spaces. We can imagine some fun company parties in the near future.
For folks who love Drekker’s oddball take on beer and life, Brewhalla will be a welcome entertainment destination. We’ll see you there!
