Fargo Public Library Launches Dual Reading Challenges for 2026

FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo Public Library has announced the start of two distinct reading programs for 2026, offering residents of all ages incentives to read and engage with library services throughout the year.

The library’s seasonal program, the “Happy Birthday Fargo Public Library!” Winter Reading Challenge, officially begins today, Jan. 5, and runs through Saturday, Feb. 28. This year’s theme commemorates the library’s 125th anniversary.

Open to all age groups—including infants, children, teens, and adults—the winter program encourages participants to read, attend library events, and complete specific challenges to earn prizes. While registration opens today, residents may join the program at any point before the end date.

In addition to the seasonal event, the library has launched the 2026 Yearlong Reading Challenge, specifically designed for adults and older teens. This program, which began on Jan. 1 and concludes on Dec. 31, utilizes a Bingo card format. Participants are tasked with completing reading prompts on an online Bingo card; those who complete a “Bingo” will be entered into a prize drawing at the end of the year.

Librarians are available to provide reading recommendations for the yearlong prompts via phone at 701-241-1492 or by email at askreference@fargolibrary.org.

Participation and Registration

Both programs utilize Beanstack, an online service that tracks reading time and activities. Interested residents can register and track their progress at fargolibrary.beanstack.org or through the Beanstack mobile app.

  • Winter Challenge: While online tracking is encouraged, paper reading logs are available at the library starting Jan. 5 for those unable to use the digital platform.
  • Yearlong Challenge: This program is available exclusively online via Beanstack.

General Information

All Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public. The library notes that children ages 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Residents requiring accommodations to participate in library programs are asked to contact the library at least three business days in advance by emailing Accessibility@fargolibrary.org or calling 701-241-1495.
