Fargo-Moorhead Area Prepares for Packed Weekend of Events

FARGO, N.D. – The Fargo-Moorhead area is scheduled for a packed weekend of events from Friday, August 22, to Sunday, August 24, with major festivals, music performances, and community gatherings taking place across the three cities.

Saturday Events Dominate Downtown and West Fargo

Saturday, August 23, will feature a concentration of major community events. Downtown Fargo will host two popular events, the Red River Market and the Island Park Show. The Red River Market, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Broadway Square, will feature over 60 local vendors selling everything from produce and baked goods to art and handmade crafts. The day is themed “Global Day” and will include live music and cooking demonstrations. Simultaneously, the annual Island Park Show will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Island Park, where more than 100 artisans will be selling their work. Offerings will include items from local businesses such as Lil’ Hippie Co. (jewelry) and MADE FOR YOU FURNITURE, as well as a variety of food and beverage vendors.

Also on Saturday, Downtown Fargo will launch a new tradition with its first-ever Lemonade Crawl from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., inviting attendees to sample a variety of non-alcoholic cool summer drinks from local businesses. Participants can start at Fargo Broadway Square to pick up a map and choose from a plastic mug or a limited-edition ceramic cup by Hayden Swanson of Livin’ the Dream Pottery. In West Fargo, the popular Pioneer Days at Bonanzaville will continue its weekend-long celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event will feature historic demonstrations, costumed guides, horse-drawn carriage rides, a kiddie tractor pull, and a parade at 2 p.m. on both days.

Music and Nightlife

The weekend’s music scene will be highlighted by an all-new two-day country festival, Buckaroo: Country Nights at The Lights, at the Essentia Health Plaza in West Fargo on both Friday and Saturday. The festival will feature four acts each night, with Charley Crockett and 49 Winchester headlining Friday, and Justin Moore and Matt Stell on Saturday. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. both days, with tickets available as two-day passes. On-site food and beverage options will be available for purchase.

For nightlife, Happy Harry’s Zoo Brew will take place Friday evening at the Red River Zoo, offering a 21+ event from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. Attendees can sample beers from an array of breweries while enjoying live music by the FM All-Stars. The weekend will also feature a variety of other performances, including a comedy show with Colum Tyrrell at Comedy in the Cellar and shows from Prey for Reign and Khold. Additionally, Swing Barrel Brewing Co. in Moorhead will be celebrating its 5th birthday, while Harold’s on Main hosts its “6(66)th Anniversary Party” on Saturday night with live music from local bands Lutheran Heat, Les Dirty Frenchman, Crucial Tauntaun, and Hevvy Swetter.
