FARGO, N.D. — The Downtown Community Partnership (DCP) has announced that the annual Coffee and Cocoa Crawl will return to downtown Fargo on Valentine’s Day, Friday, Feb. 14. Organizers expect a capacity crowd of nearly 1,000 attendees for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is designed to increase pedestrian traffic and commerce in the downtown district during the winter season. This year, a record-breaking number of more than 40 businesses will participate, serving samples of coffee, cocoa, chai, cider, and other beverages.
Logistics and Participation
Tickets for the crawl are priced at $30 per person. Children aged 10 and under may attend free of charge if accompanied by a ticketed adult. Admission includes beverage sampling at all participating locations and a locally handmade mug from Livin’ the Dream Pottery.
Attendees must begin their crawl at one of two designated check-in locations to collect their mugs:
- The Jasper Hotel
- Brewhalla
To facilitate movement throughout the district, a trolley service will circulate during the four-hour window, allowing guests to travel between stops or explore the area on foot.
Economic Impact and Community Focus
The Coffee and Cocoa Crawl targets a typically slower retail period for downtown merchants. By bringing residents into the city center, the event aims to stimulate business for coffee shops, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.
“This event highlights what downtown actually is; a place where people come together to support small businesses, enjoy time with friends and family, and experience the full variety that makes downtown unique,” said Rocky Schneider, executive director of the Downtown Community Partnership. “Downtown works best when we work together, and the Coffee and Cocoa Crawl is a great example of how people show up, even in the middle of winter.”
Incentives and Availability
In addition to beverage tasting, participants can engage in a bingo activity for a chance to win prizes. Organizers state that more than $1,000 in Downtown Fargo gift cards will be awarded to winners, aiming to encourage continued local spending after the event concludes.
Ticket sales are currently approaching the event’s hard cap of 1,000 participants. Those interested in attending can purchase remaining tickets online at downtownfargo.com.
