Concordia’s Cultural Events will present Allen Vizzutti accompanied by pianist Laura Vizzutti at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, in Memorial Auditorium. He’ll also take part in the Honor Band Weekend Gala Concert at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 16, also in Memorial.

Performing as a classical and a jazz artist, he has appeared as guest soloist with numerous symphony orchestras, has performed on more than 150 motion picture soundtracks as well as countless TV shows and commercials. As an artist-in-residence, he has taught at several institutions including the Eastman School of Music. His compositions have led to premiere performances by prestigious symphonies and his “New Concepts for Trumpet” and “The Allen Vizzutti Trumpet Method” have become standard works for trumpet study worldwide. Vizzutti is the High School Honor Band festival clinician.

Laura Vizzutti studied at the Eastman School of Music and then at the University of Southern California. Her recent activities have included solo and ensemble concerts throughout the U.S., in Japan, Australia, Austria, Croatia, Finland, and Germany.

Honor Band Weekend is directed by Dr. Peter Haberman, director of bands, and includes guest conductor, Dr. Erika Svanoe, a conductor, composer, and educator, currently serving as the conductor of the Augsburg Concert Band at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Vizzutti’s concert and the Honor Band Concert will both include original compositions by Vizzutti.

The Honor Band Weekend Gala Concert is free and open to the public. Tickets for the Vizzutti concert are $20 for general admission and $10 for students under 18. For tickets visit ConcordiaTickets.com.
