FARGO, N.D. — Regional creators and enthusiasts of self-published media will gather for the Fargo Zine Mini Fest on Saturday, November 8, at the Parachigo art collective.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It serves as a platform for regional “zine makers” to display and sell their work.
Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are do-it-yourself, book-like publications that span a wide variety of formats, topics, and artistic styles. The festival will offer attendees a look into this diverse and independent form of media.
In addition to browsing and purchasing zines from various creators, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the DIY spirit of the event. Organizers have noted that visitors will be able to create a zine of their own on-site.
The festival is being held at Parachigo, located at 14 8th St S in Fargo. Parachigo is a collectively run, non-profit DIY venue, art studio, and store that operates as an all-ages, sober space.
The Zine Mini Fest is one of several recent community events focused on this medium. A “Zinester Meetup” was held earlier in the week at the Moorhead Public Library for creators to collaborate and prepare for the festival.
