Fargo Gala – Charity:Water

Would you ever consider drinking the water from the red river after a flood? What if you your life depended on walking for hours just to get dirty, contaminated water, then carrying that water hours back to your home so your family could have water to drink.

While this is not a reality for us here in the FM area, it is a daily struggle for for over 771 million people around the world. charity: water is on a mission to change that with a radically transparent model, where 100% of public donations fund clean water projects in developing countries.

We’re fortunate enough to have Scott Harrison, the founder and CEO of charity: water, and the author of NY times bestselling book Thirst: A Story of Redemption, Compassion, and a Mission to Bring Clean Water to the World. Scott was recognized on Fortune magazine’s list of 40 under 40, Forbes’ Impact 30, Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business. He is currently a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.

We will also have local water super star, Sawyer Anderson, speaking as well. Sawyer has written and illustrated the book, Water Works, and partners with Wellspring for the World and World Vision to bring safe, clean water to people in Africa. She has raised over $1 million, funded 72 wells and saved more than 22,000 lives. Sawyer is an 8th grader at Oak Grove Lutheran School with a 4.0 GPA, and is active in theater, dance, basketball, volleyball, music, and church activities.

Not only will you enjoy a top notch gala environment, but you will also have the opportunity to change everything for hundreds and hundreds of individuals in this world through your ticket purchase, bidding on dessert, and partaking in a water walk.
