Country Music Legend Dwight Yoakam Returns to Moorhead in August

Moorhead, MN – Get ready for a night of unforgettable country music as Essentia Health presents Dwight Yoakam with The Mavericks live in concert at Bluestem Amphitheater on Sunday, August 11th, 2024! Tickets go on sale Friday, March 8th at 10 am CT.

Dwight Yoakam: A 21-time Grammy Award winner, he has sold over 25 million albums worldwide. His impressive discography includes 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums. Five of these albums have topped Billboard’s Country Albums chart, while another 14 secured spots in the Top 10. With nearly 40 singles charting on Billboard, 14 of them reaching the Top 10, Yoakam’s musical legacy is undeniable.

Recognized by the Americana Music Association, he received the prestigious Artist of the Year award. Additionally, BMI Country Music honored him with the esteemed President’s Award. In 2019, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in the Songwriter/Artist category.

In 2016, Yoakam released the bluegrass album “Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…” on Sugar Hill Records. Featuring a band of bluegrass luminaries, the album includes reinterpreted favorites from his catalog and a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain”. In 2018, Yoakam treated fans to two new songs: “Pretty Horses” and “Then Came Monday.”

Not just a musical force, Yoakam is also a formidable film and television actor. His versatile talent shines in over 40 feature films, including acclaimed works like “Sling Blade” and “Panic Room”. Whether on stage or screen, Yoakam’s presence leaves an indelible mark alongside some of the world’s top thespians.

The Mavericks

The Mavericks, a genre-bending Americana group originally formed in Miami and now based in Nashville, have just unveiled their latest single and title track, “Moon & Stars (with Sierra Ferrell),” from their highly anticipated 13th studio album, “Moon & Stars.” This album marks their first release of new music since their groundbreaking 2020 project, “En Espanol,” and their return to a full English language album since their acclaimed “Brand New Day” in 2017.

The album is set to release on May 17th via their own Mono Mundo Recordings label in collaboration with Thirty Tigers.
