BIO Girls to host Art Based Program this Spring

BIO Girls, an organization aimed at empowering young girls to build their confidence, is launching a new program this spring, called BIO Girls Art presented by Marvin. The program is set to replace the traditional physical activities with creative arts.

The program will follow the organization’s research-driven and proven confidence-building curriculum facilitated by volunteer mentors, and will be available to girls in 2nd through 6th grade. Each week, participants will be introduced to a new art medium to further their creative skills, and at the end of the 12-week program, they will host an art showcase for their friends and family.

BIO Girls Founder & CEO, Missy Heilman, is thrilled about the program and said, “We believe this will give all girls the opportunity to participate in our preventative mental wellness program despite any physical challenges they may face. We are looking forward to fine-tuning the program through this process and eventually making it available to additional communities throughout the Midwest.”

The pilot program, hosted by Flint Group at their downtown art space, will meet every Tuesday evening starting February 20 and ending May 7. Registration for the program will open on January 16 at 8:00 am CST, and it will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
