Fargo Park District hosts Trout Fest on June 19

Last updated:

Get ready to reel in a good time with the Fargo Park District at Trout Fest! Trout Fest is on Monday, June 19 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Woodhaven North Pond. This annual event is a great opportunity for families to get outdoors and get fishing this summer.

Trout Fest is the ultimate event for the next generation of anglers (ages 15 and under) to experience the thrill of catching trout. Registration begins at 5:30 pm with a derby taking place from 6:15-7:30 pm. Adult supervision is recommended, and participants are asked to bring their own rod and reel or bait.

Fargo Park District is partnering with Scott Stenshoel, SCHEELS fishing expert to give fly fishing technique demos. The event sponsor FM Walleyes Unlimited, Inc. will also be there to assist kids with getting set up and reeling in the catch! The Woodhaven North Pond is stocked annually and was just stocked this spring with trout.

Along with the in-person event, Fargo Park District encourages families to celebrate Trout Fest all week long. Take a family trip to Woodhaven North and South Ponds and snap a photo of the best catch. Participants who share a photo in the Fargo Park District Facebook event will be entered to win fun fishing prizes. Winners will be chosen at random and announced June 21.

Woodhaven North Pond is located at 4406 44th Avenue S. in Fargo. For more information on Trout Fest, contact the Fargo Park District at 701-499-6060 or visit FargoParks.com.
