Derby for the Vets has raised over $65,000 for the Fargo VA Healthcare System and the VFW Auxiliary.

Fargo VFW ‘Derby for the Vets’ presents $21,000 check to Fargo VA Center

In a ceremony on the steps of the Fargo Veterans Affairs center, the downtown Fargo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 762 presented a check for $21,000 to the Fargo VA Hospital. The funds were raised from the 5th annual “Derby for the Vets” adult pinewood derby which was held on February 20, 2017 at the Downtown Fargo VFW.

On hand for the ceremony were Post 762 personnel including Commander Dave Rice, Judge Advocate Terry Richardson, Quarter Master Mike McQuillan, Derby for the Vets Event Director Dan Jacobson, and the Fargo VFW Post 762 color guard. Also on hand, representing the Fargo VA Hospital, were Chief of Voluntary Services Karinn Davidson, Health Care Systems Director Lavonne Liversag, and Associate Director of Patient Care Julie Bruhn.

Over the past five years the Derby for the Vets adult pinewood derby has been raising money with this event to cover costs to purchase roller recliner chairs for the VA Hospital patients, an important piece to recovery for our veterans. Since 2013 the event has raised over $60,000.00 for the Fargo VA Hospital – Voluntary Services.
