Emerging Digital Academy Announces Scholarship Support, Seventh Cohort Graduates

Emerging Digital Academy (EDA), energized by Emerging Prairie, is thrilled to announce it has received several financial contributions to be utilized through scholarships for prospective students.

EDA is committed to ensuring all prospective students are financially able to participate in its program regardless of race, gender, financial standing, or life circumstances. Through these contributions, EDA will now be able to offer scholarships for students that come from underserved backgrounds who are not well represented in the tech industry, those with low-income or income loss challenges, single-income households, those facing cost of living or childcare challenges, and assistance with program down payment.

These scholarships are made possible through generous contributions from AT&T, Scheels, and several anonymous donors.

“AT&T has had a long-standing relationship with Emerging Prairie and is delighted to continue and expand that support through this scholarship program, “ said Cheryl Riley, President, AT&T Northern Plains. “As a technology company, AT&T is committed to closing the digital divide by working with community partners such as EDA to deliver innovative programs that inspire young students and encourage them to embrace technology as a career.”

“EDA is providing a life changing career path opportunity,” said Byron Snider, VP of IT for Scheels. “The EDA graduates that have chosen to join the Scheels team are a wonderful addition. We are thrilled to help support the EDA program to bring the opportunity to even more people.”

“This scholarship support shows our community is invested in our students and the future of the region’s tech workforce,” said Blaine Booher, Program Director of Emerging Digital Academy. “With these scholarships we hope to make a career in technology more accessible and through it change the lives of our students for the better.”

EDA is a 20-week immersive coding bootcamp based in Fargo, ND, that prepares students for entry level software development positions. EDA’s Full Stack Engineering course teaches students to understand, design, and work with software at all layers of the modern web ”stack”, including both frontend and backend. Students learn modern technologies like HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, git, React, and Node.js and are able to grasp foundational web concepts and techniques. 90% of EDA students graduate the program with 90% of graduates securing a career within six months with an average salary of $50,000.

EDA’s seventh cohort, the Gosling Cohort (named after James Gosling, the computer scientist who was the founder and lead designer behind the Java programming language) graduated on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Applications are now open for EDA’s Iwatani Cohort which will begin classes on November 7, 2022. The application deadline is October 10, 2022. For those interested in learning more about the program, visit emergingdigitalacademy.com or reach out to EDA at hello@emergingacademy.com.
