Wine Class – South Africa
March 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm
Of all the world’s top wine-producing countries, South Africa may be the least familiar to U.S. consumers. This is perhaps not surprising, as it was a wine industry tainted by apartheid for much of its history. In the post-apartheid era, however, new and inclusive projects have come to diversify the world of South African wine and to show what this country can create with both quality and ingenuity.
In this class, Laura Botten will help you explore South African wine, focusing primarily on two wineries, David Finlayson and Kumusha. Each winery represents a different story and style of winemaking, while both producing wine from the varietals that flourish in South Africa – Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more. Expect to taste some outstanding and at times unexpected wines.
Must be 21+ to attend.
