Whiskey Class – Cask Finished Rye

September 19 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Taste and learn about cask finished Rye whiskey with Evan Christie.

Rye whiskey, like Bourbon, must be aged in new American white oak in order to receive its name, yet for many years now producers have been experimenting with “finishing” Rye whiskies in other cask types. This can involve aging in a new cask for anywhere from a few days to a few months. As producers of other world whiskies have often shown, this finishing process can add new and exciting characteristics to the whiskey. Although it is still a fairly new addition to American Whiskey, cask finishing is here to stay.

In this class, Evan Christie will pour and discuss Rye whiskies, each aged in a different finishing cask, so you can explore how these cask finishes affect the final product. Some casks impart precisely the flavor you might imagine, while others will take the whiskey in unexpected directions. Come taste with us and learn all about cask finished Rye!

Must be 21+ to attend.
