Whiskey Class – Blended Whiskey
April 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The term “blended,” when applied to whiskey, is a confusing one. Unless a whiskey is from a single barrel, every whiskey is blended to some degree. Yet the legal definitions of the word as it applies to different types of whiskey can be varied. In American Whiskey, “blended whiskey” is usually a low quality product where a portion of aged whiskey is blended with unaged grain spirit, resulting in a light, low character libation. In the world of Scotch you have “blended Scotch” where traditional malt whiskey is blended with lighter grain whiskey but also “blended malt” where malt whiskies from multiple distilleries are blended together. In Japan, the master blender is a more prestigious position than master distiller, as they meticulously blend different casks, batches, and recipes to achieve their highly regarded whiskies.
In this class, Evan Christie will guide your exploration of everything that could possibly fall under the blended whisky umbrella. From blending the products of different distilleries to distillers blending different ages and barrels of their own spirits to everything in between. Expect Scotch, Bourbon, rye, and other types of whiskey as well.
Must be 21+ to attend.
