Spirits Class – Sugarcane Rum
April 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Rum is, essentially, a spirit distilled from sugarcane. Yet from that simple idea, so many variations spring. Most rums are made from molasses, a by-product of the process that turns sugarcane into refined white sugar. Rums can be made from various grades of molasses or even sugarcane syrup, an earlier-stage product of the sugar production. Some rums, however, are made from the fresh-pressed juice of sugarcane, which produces distinctive flavors and characteristics not found in other rums.
In this class, Evan Christie will guide you through a plethora of rums produced from sugarcane juice. From the classic Rhum Agricole produced on French Island to the national spirits of Brazil, Cachaça, to spirits being produced everywhere sugarcane is grown. Expect rums with no barrel aging, long barrel aging, and even unique cask aging. Join us as we taste through these special and diverse rums.
Must be 21+ to attend.
