Whiskey Class – European Whiskey

March 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Taste whiskeys from European countries you would not normally associate with whiskey production.

While Europeans seem to have first experimented with distilling grapes, spirits based on grain soon followed, especially in regions too cold to support grape vines. As distilling traditions developed across Europe, distinct styles emerged. Industrialization and the modern economy did more to refine these styles, and though distillation of grain was important everywhere, Scotland and Ireland emerged as the only commercially important producers of whiskey, a spirit that takes its name from the Gaelic tongue of Ireland. Thankfully, as whiskey connoisseurs have sought out unique whiskeys, producers from other countries have risen to prominence, whether reviving old traditions or creating new ones.

In this class, you will taste whiskey from all across Europe, with a focus on countries you may never have had whiskey from before. Some, like Germany, have a long history of grain distillation. Others, like Spain, take inspiration from the whiskies produced elsewhere while also adding their own local spin. Join Evan Christie for a chance to try whiskies from far and wide!

Must be 21+ to attend.
