Our Local Plate: Farm Fest & Market at Doubting Thomas Farms

Join Us September 14th for “Our Local Plate” Event at Doubting Thomas Farms!

Join foodies, local foods and farm supporters – and everyone else who just wants to be a part of an awesome experience on a celebrated Moorhead-area farm – for a two-part day of learning, eating and exploring.  

Breakfast with Beth (9-10:30)

Join us for a delightful & relaxed morning with chef and James Beard award winning food writer, Beth Dooley at Doubting Thomas Farms. Beth has authored and co-authored more than a dozen cookbooks including, Perennial Kitchen: Simple Recipes for a Healthy Future. She will demo a simple egg dish while sharing what inspires her in the kitchen, tips for bringing people together over a shared meal, and how utilizing thoughtfully-raised, nutrient dense ingredients nurtures our bodies, and the planet.

Sweet & savory breakfast grazing table, featuring products from local farmers, ranchers, food makers, coffee roasters and chefs is included in the ticket. Book signing to follow.

 

Fun-filled Day on the Farm (11-3)

Fun and engaging activities on the farm for all ages where attendees will learn, explore and have fun at the farm! Adult tickets include a delicious meal from Heart-n-Soul Community Café, crafted with locally-sourced ingredients celebrating the abundance of the harvest season. Kids’ tickets include a sandwich sack lunch. Programming includes:

 

– Foraged Food Cooking Demo led by local Indigenous chef Candace Stock!

 

– Farm-to-School Champion & Nutritional Director, Shannon Novak of Dilworth-Glydon-Felton School District, will talk about her experience in sourcing local ingredients for their school meal program. 

 

– Sourcing Local Panel discussing opportunities for local schools, chefs, and farmers to work together to stregthen our local food economy

 

– Guided Farm tour of Doubting Thomas Farm – farmer Noreen Thomas takes participants to explore her Certified-Organic farm operation where she grows oats, wheat, blue corn, barley and soybeans to sell to a variety of markets.

 

– Farmer’s market (get your groceries for the week as well as other locally made treats and gifts). 

 

– Kids activities, including a barrel train ride, scavenger hunt, art-making, and more.

Breakfast with Beth <limited tickets available>- 

$30 includes chef demo and talk with award-winning cookbook author, Beth Dooley and breakfast grazing table featuring locally-sourced products. 

 

Breakfast with Beth + Farm Fest and Marketplace 

$55 includes discussion with award-winning cookbook author, Beth Dooley, locally-sourced breakfast grazing table, Farm Fest activities, and meal from Heat-n-Soul Community Cafe. Come for breakfast, stay for a fun day!

 

Farm Fest and Marketplace – Farm Fest activities, and a meal from Heat-n-Soul Community Cafe for adults, sandwich sack lunch for kids.

Kids: $15 (5-10 y/o),

Kids 4 & under: Free
