Wine Class – Provence

Provence is a name that conjures up the splendor of rural France, yet despite its pastoral connotation, it has never been a region associated with great wine, standing instead for a sea of perfectly adequate rosé. This impression has never been entirely correct (though Provence does produce a lot of mediocre rosé!). In specific pockets, the high-quality vineyards of Provence grow wines every bit the equal of those grown in the Rhône of Languedoc. Dynamic whites, brooding reds, and yes, the high-quality rosés that inspired so many imitators can be found…as long as you know where to look.

In this class, our own wine expert, Anita Bender, will show you where to look for these treasures. From classic regions like Bandol, to oddly-named gems like Cassis, and all around the Cotes de Provence. You will learn about how this wine region, though often undervalued, has found its own unique place in the world of French wine. Expect to taste wine that will delight and surprise you at every turn.
