For more about our wonderful friend, please read on:
Christopher Hanson, 45, was a beloved friend to everyone who knew him. In September 2022, Christopher married Sarah Beck. During their first dance as husband and wife, he tenderly sang “Crazy Love” to her, and no one had ever seen him so full of joy. Just 80 days later, after suffering a sudden stroke, he passed away with Sarah by his side.
Christopher had a servant’s heart which was evident in every aspect of his life. Since 2015, he worked at Faith United Methodist Church as Executive Assistant and Music Director. He impacted every aspect of the church as he served through ministry, built relationships, and humbly led by example.
Sgt. Hanson honorably served his country in the military for 22 years, 12 full-time and 10 part-time. One of his greatest privileges during his tenure was providing Military Funeral Honors for more than 260 veterans. He actively served in the American Legion.
Christopher was a passionate and talented musician, composer, arranger, and vocalist. He was a freelance musician and member of countless bands, including Helena Handbasket, FM Kicks, and Guys and Dahls. He established and ran the Jass Festival for 25 years, giving mentorship and performance opportunities to aspiring young jazz musicians.
Christopher loved and hugged fiercely. He put all his energy into his passions – faith, military and music, and the relationships he fostered within each. His final act of service was the gift of life as an organ and tissue donor.
Thank you for reading all about our Christopher. We hope you join us on April 15th for an amazing night of music!
