Spirits Class – Spirits of Mexico
April 20 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Spirits can become inextricably linked with the places of their origin – Bourbon with Kentucky, Single Malts with Scotland, and of course, Tequila with Mexico – yet these quick associations in our heads can never tell the whole story. Just as distilleries in Kentucky produce many spirits other than Bourbon, Mexico is so much more than the land of Tequila. In fact, Tequila is only produced in a small geographical area in Mexico, while other spirit traditions run deep around the country. This class will explore the many and varied spirits made all across Mexico.
In this class, Evan Christie will take you on a journey through Mexico’s lesser known spirits.l from other Agave spirits, like Bacanora and Raicilla, to the mysterious Sotol, distilled from the desert spoon. You will also find traditionally-produced rums hailing from Mexico’s sugar cane producing regions and liqueur that highlights Mexico’s ecological diversity and richness. Come see the wide array of distilled treasures that Mexico has to offer!
Must be 21+ to attend.
