Acoustic Dance Party

December 21 @ 7:00 pm

$12

As North Dakota’s premiere live music venue, The Aquarium has hosted countless memorable dance parties over the years. The region’s finest DJs and producers have spun hip hop, emo, and EDM, bringing joy and merriment to an eager public. Local bassist and composer Max Johnk has watched all this with much interest, and yes, some jealousy. How does a guy who plays an old-timey instrument get in on this action? Turns out, there are ways. Accompanied by an ace horn band called Allweather, Johnk has developed a potent blend of jazz, funk, and rock, purpose-built for nodding heads and moving backsides.

Thus equipped with a hot band and rippin’ tracks, Johnk set out to find other like-minded musicians to round out this Winter Solstice throwdown. He didn’t have to look far- there are tens and tens of us! Local bluegrass pickers Kohlrabi Soup and folk-punk heroes Moo Boots will provide their own takes on acoustic groove music, and master songwriter Daniel Ellenson will open the show in his typically witty and heartfelt fashion.

We hope you join us for an eclectic, fun, and potentially sweaty night of acoustic music!
