Fargo, ND – In a remarkable season marked by triumphs and exemplary teamwork, the Red River Ruffians have successfully secured a position in the esteemed USA Club Rugby Men’s XVs DIII National Championship. The team is poised to compete in the Final Four against the nation’s premier clubs on May 18th and 19th in Austin, TX.
This year’s journey to the nationals has been one of determination and skill. The team had an undefeated regular season, followed by an epic 16-team single-elimination tournament, which led to their 3rd consecutive regional championship win. This secured them a slot in the National tournament. The Red River Ruffians have shown outstanding performance over the past few seasons since their club’s founding in 2019, with incredible skill coming from the entire team.
“It means everything to us to have a chance at the National Title,” said team captain Taylor Neaton. “When we started the team I don’t think anyone would’ve anticipated us making it to the final four in the nation in just our third season! But we set our goals high, worked our butts off day in and day out, and now we have the opportunity to achieve this goal and become national champions!”
“I’m unbelievably proud of this group of men and couldn’t be more thankful for the amount of time and dedication they’ve put forth into growing this team,” Neason said. “It’s truly been a full team effort and we can’t wait to represent the FM area down in Texas and bring home that Trophy!”
The championships promise to showcase the highest level of club rugby, with The Ruffians prepared to make their mark. Fans can catch all the action live on The Rugby Network or follow the team’s progress on Facebook and Instagram @RedRiverRugbyClub.
