Wine Class – Burgundy
May 18 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Burgundy is a wine region steeped in tradition, a home to some of the best known, and most expensive wines in the world. Vineyards dot the landscape, clinging to every hill and suitable outcropping, many named and delineated centuries ago by monks, tirelessly working to define where the best wines were made. It is a land of simplicity, where wines are, with a few exceptions, made only from two grapes – Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; It is a land of complexity, where each parcel is demarcated by the kind of wine in can produce, and thousands of names may end up on the final bottle before the producer is even taken into account. It is a difficult region to understand, because so many of the wines are difficult to find, especially at a reasonable price.
In this class, Anita Bender will attempt to demystify Burgundy, and make its rapturous contours more intelligible. You will taste wines from each major subregion (Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and the Mâconnais), and explore how this long standing sense of place is expressed in the wine. You will have the opportunity to try wines that demonstrate tremendous value, as well as a few special bottles you might not normally consider. We hope you will join us for this exploration of one of the world’s premier wine regions.
Must be 21+ to attend.
