Whiskey Class – Bourbon: Beyond Kentucky
October 19, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm
No state in the union is more closely associated with a single spirit than Kentucky is with Bourbon. Faded from our communal memory are the historical links between Pennsylvania and rye and Massachusetts and rum, and no other states have stepped up to claim one spirit as their own. Yet despite this deep association, today Bourbon is being produced in every state in the nation. The boom in microdistilleries and the boom in American whiskey have coincided so that one can now find a vast array of Bourbons of all descriptions with each place of origin plays its own unique role.
In this class, Evan Christie will take you outside of the bourbon homeland of Kentucky to explore what other states have to offer. From east coast to west, and plenty in between, see how the famous American corn whiskey changes, and yet stays the same, from vastly different producers. Whether aging in a warm or cool climate or coming from organic, local grains, all of these spirits share the common thread of bourbon. Come taste and learn about this great American spirit in all its geographical diversity.
Must be 21+ to attend.
