This winter, Christkindlmarkt will return to the Fargo Civic Center for four days of holiday festivities. The European-inspired holiday event encourages the community to spend time together with activities for the whole family to enjoy.
During the event, the outdoor Winter Wonderland will bring the cheer of the holiday season surrounded by twinkling trees as visitors roast s’mores by the fire. Local artisans and small businesses will set up mini-shops in traditional Christkindlmarkt booths to sell holiday gifts.
Inside, the Civic Center arena will be transformed into a German Bier Hall in collaboration with Drekker Brewing Company. Along with a selection of their usual beers, Drekker will be serving a variety of winter warmers exclusive to the event, including a mulled gluhbier.
Beers and other beverages can be enjoyed in the event’s annual commemorative mug handmade by Hayden Swanson of Livin’ the Dream Pottery. Commemorative ornaments designed by local artist, Brett Lysne of Sandwich Club Design, will also be available at the Christkindlmarkt gift shop. Ornaments are produced by the Vocational Training Center, which supports individuals with disabilities. Proceeds from both of the items will support Christkindlmarkt and other Folkways events.
The Bier Hall will also feature a full schedule of live musical performances throughout the event. Headliners include FM Aerial and Movement Arts, The JT Kennelly Band, Walking Phoenix, Brass Interference, The Cropdusters, and Poitin.
Those looking for something to eat can try traditional holiday foods and sweet treats throughout the Bier Hall and Concourse. CRAVE American Kitchen will be serving classic German foods like Knoephla Soup and Jumbo Soft Pretzels.
