Fargo Moorhead Visual Artists ‘Monsters’ Come To Life At The Hjemkomst Center

“Monsters, Marvels, and Memorabilia,” a new collaborative art exhibition from the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County and the Fargo Moorhead Visual Artists, explores a world of terror, superpower, and pop culture nostalgia. A free and public reception is planned in celebration of the exhibition’s opening at the Hjemkomst Center on Tuesday, November 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Each year, the Fargo Moorhead Visual Artists challenge themselves to publicly exhibit work created within specific parameters, or constraints. The resulting “constraint show” offers a focused, multimedia statement showcasing the tremendous talent and creativity of the FMVA. Drawing from one of the current themes of the Hjemkomst Center, where HCSCC is now exhibiting “Weird FM” and “America’s Monsters, Superheroes, and Villains,” FMVA members decided this year to create art focused on a world of “Monsters, Marvels, and Memorabilia.” Now their work, collected in a multimedia art show heavy on famous monsters, will be on exhibition in the Hjemkomst Center’s Heritage Hall from Friday, November 22, through March 8, 2020.

The opening reception on Tuesday, November 26, is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided thanks to reception sponsor Drekker Brewing Company.

“Monsters, Marvels, and Memorabilia” is sponsored by The Arts Partnership and the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
