The four-part series begins February 4 at the Main Library

The Fargo Public Library is organizing a four-part film series, starting on Sunday, February 4 at the Main Library. The series will feature science fiction movies that have captivated audiences with their unique and imaginative stories, exploring the complexities of the human experience in fantastical and futuristic ways.

The movies have been carefully selected by the local film critic, Matt Olien, whose expertise has earned him the trust and admiration of moviegoers across the region. Olien will personally introduce each movie and provide insights into the themes, cinematography, and overall impact of the film.

After the movie screenings, Olien will lead a brief discussion, allowing viewers to share their thoughts and engage in a conversation about the movie’s themes and messages. This interactive and enriching experience is the perfect way for movie enthusiasts to deepen their appreciation of the art of cinema and connect with like-minded individuals in the community.

All films begin at 2 p.m. and are approximately 120 minutes long. Dates and film titles are:

  • February 4 – “The Thing from Another World” (1951)
  • February 11 – “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” (1956)
  • February 18 – “Westworld” (1973, PG)
  • February 25 – “Alien” (1979, R)
