The Fargo Air Museum is hosting its quarterly History Night on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Mustang Mania History Night will showcase one of the most iconic warbirds of the United States military, the North American P-51 Mustang.
Speakers for the evening include prominent warbird pilots Tim “Toby” McPherson of Tall Towers Aviation and Casey Odegaard of Odegaard Wings, interviewed by Max Sabin, Collections Manager of the Fargo Air Museum.
McPherson is the owner and pilot of the North American P-51D Mustang nicknamed “Boomer.” He is a lifelong pilot with countless hours spent flying Boomer for special events and private rides, as well as an aerial applicator around Page, N.D.
Odegaard has 4,500 hours of flying time across a plethora of different aircraft with roughly 400 hours in Mustangs and other World War II-era fighter planes, bombers, and transports. He is also the son of the late legendary warbird pilot, restorer, and Fargo Air Museum co-founder Robert “Bob” Odegaard.
The event begins at 6:30 pm followed by Q&A and social hour with light refreshments. A $10 donation is requested, and no pre-registration is required. Museum members are able to attend the event at no cost.
“North Dakota holds a rich history of restoring, flying, and displaying P-51 Mustangs,” says Museum Collections Manager Max Sabin. “‘Boomer’ has been one of our most popular warbirds on display at the Fargo Air Museum for many years, but there is a lot of history behind that particular aircraft and others in the area that can’t fit on a single information banner. This History Night is going to be a behind-the-scenes look into some truly unique stories that haven’t been shared before.”
