The North Dakota State University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will host a Food Drive Drop-Off Tuesday, March 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Sanford Health Athletic Complex.
NDSU student-athletes will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Summit League Food Fight, a friendly competition between the league’s member institutions benefiting food banks in each of their local communities.
In exchange for food donations, NDSU SAAC members will be handing out coupons to Sandy’s Donuts and Chick-fil-A, two sponsors of NDSU Athletics supporting the food drive.
NDSU SAAC collected food items and monetary donations at Bison home events throughout the month of February.
During the 2022-23 NDSU basketball season, Todd Kadrmas of Beyond Realty donated five pounds of food for every Bison 3-pointer made, resulting in 433 total 3-pointers and 2,165 pounds of food donated to the Summit League Food Fight.
Cash donations may be made online through You Give Goods, a charitable giving service and partner of The Summit League.
This year’s NDSU collection will benefit the Emergency Food Pantry. The pantry will take any canned and packaged food in the original, unopened packaging. They also take hygiene items. Common items needed include peanut butter, rice, canned meat (tuna, chicken, salmon), toilet paper, bar soap, baby wipes, diapers, dish soap, and laundry soap.
