West Fargo Library closed Jan. 15 – 17 to reorganize space

The West Fargo Public Library will be closed Sunday, Jan. 15 through Tuesday, Jan. 17 for staff training and space reorganization. The library typically closes to the public for staff training on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year, the closure is expanded so the team can reorganize the library space.

“We are sad to have to close to the public, but are looking forward to making some much-needed changes,” Kirsten Henagin, Adult and Patron Services Manager said. “One big change is that our large print section will no longer be on our second floor, which will be much more accessible for those with mobility issues.”

There will be no renovations to the library building during the project, only shelves and library materials will be moved around. Other collections moving during this adjustment include audiobooks, magazines and teen materials.

“We are moving our audiobooks to make more space in the children’s corner of the library,” Henagin said. “This space gets incredibly crowded during our weekly storytimes, so this will open it up and allow even more families to join us.”

The West Fargo Public Library currently leases its space in the Lodoen Community Center.

“There have been talks about moving the library to a different location, but these conversations are still just discussion,” Library Director Betty Adams said. “Reorganizing is our way of making the best of the space we currently have. It will take some adjusting for everyone, but we are excited about the changes in store.”
