Features student art, hands-on workshops, award ceremony

MSU Moorhead’s annual tri-state high school juried art exhibition runs from Jan. 10 through Jan. 27 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The juried exhibit is part of the School of Art’s Art-a-Fair, culminating in art workshops Friday, Jan. 27.

Collaborative public art project

A collaborative public art project will be in progress on Friday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the art annex. This year’s project will be a large-scale string art public art piece led by MSUM art gallery director Danielle Gravon and students.

Juried exhibit awards ceremony

A panel of professors has juried the exhibition sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Fargo. They will award over $1,000 in prize money at a ceremony Friday, Jan. 27, at noon in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. Student winners will be announced in eight categories: painting, drawing, 2D mixed media, printmaking, functional pottery and crafts, sculpture, photography, and media arts. Prizes will be awarded to the best North Dakota and Minnesota schools.  

Art-a-fair workshops

More than 300 students and teachers from high schools in three states will attend workshops from 10 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. by visual art, media art and music faculty, advanced students, regional arts organizations, and local artists. Students select from among 26 topics, including digital design, beginning wheel throwing, caricature art, sculpture, screen printing, advanced painting, body art, comics and illustration, art therapy, media art, music sessions, creative career possibilities and more.

This event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Fargo.
