Event Featuring Top Prospects for 2023 NHL Draft Slated for Jan. 16
USA Hockey and the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the rosters for the 2023 BioSteel All-American Game which is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET on January 16 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
The game, featuring players identified as top prospects for the 2023 NHL Draft, will be broadcast live on NHL Network.
Rosters for the event include a combination of players from the USHL along with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) Under-18 Team. The NTDP is one of the 16 USHL Member Clubs and will split its roster with the top USHL players for this year’s event.
Two Fargo Force players have been selected for the game. Forward Cole Knuble and defenseman Joe Palodichuk will play for Team White. Knuble is from East Grand Rapids, Michigan and Palodichuk is from Cottage Grove, Minnesota.
The game format this year will have players assigned to teams, from both the U.S. National Under-18 Team of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program and the United States Hockey League, the nation’s only Tier 1 junior hockey league.
The 47 players hail from 14 different states, with Minnesota’s 12 players leading all states. A total of 11 different teams that compete in the USHL are represented across the two rosters and 42 of the 47 players are currently committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey, across 21 schools.
“The BioSteel All-American Game is a wonderful way for the USHL and USA Hockey to celebrate the outstanding Tier 1 hockey talent in the United States,” said USHL President and Commissioner Bill Robertson. “This event showcases the best of the best that our league and USA Hockey can offer on a national stage. We are excited to watch this unique contest with the mixed teams competing at the highest levels of amateur hockey. We also appreciate USA Hockey hosting this event in Plymouth, Mich.”
Now into its fourth year, the BioSteel All-American Game has featured 265 NHL Draft picks, including 58 total first-round selections. Logan Cooley, Cutter Gauthier, Frank Nazar III, Rutger McGroarty, Jimmy Snuggerud, Sam Rinzel, and Isaac Howard, all 2022 first-round NHL Draft picks, played in the BioSteel All-American Game.
