Out in the beautiful Red River Valley of eastern North Dakota, rows of berry bushes line the driveway of the Nelson Aronia Farm where father and son duo, Greg Nelson and Chase Nelson, along with Adam Kapaun, harvest over 20 acres of Aronia berries (also known as chokeberries) each fall. To celebrate their annual harvest and raise awareness for this delicious super fruit, their family welcomes the public to the 3rd annual Aronia Berry Harvest Festival on September 11th, 2022 from 12 pm-4 pm!
“The purpose of the event is to create awareness of the Aronia berry and celebrate the harvest,” Chase explained. “It has amazing health benefits and is packed with antioxidants, which we could all definitely use.”
The Nelson family began hosting the annual Aronia Berry Harvest Festival in 2019. The Nelson Farm has been in the family since the 1970s and is jam-packed with history, culture, beauty, love, and 33,000 Aronia bushes! This free, family-friendly event includes attractions for the whole family: live music, face painting, yard games, local food, beverage, and artisan vendors, a live cooking demo, RC cars, and a petting zoo. All festivities take place near the Aronia bushes on the Nelson Aronia Farm.
“We’re thrilled to have everyone out here again, enjoying the weather, and having fun with friends and family! Our first two festivals were really special,” said Greg.
The free-to-attend festival takes place on September 11th from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Nelson Aronia Farm: 15670 25 St. SE, Amenia, ND – only a 30-minute drive from Fargo. Get more event details at nelsonaroniafarm.com.
