HCSCC “Pangea – Cultivate Our Cultures” Moves To Webcast On Nov. 13

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will reformat Pangea — Cultivate Our Cultures as a live webcast instead of the usual multicultural festival of food and music at the Hjemkomst Center due to lingering risks and concerns over COVID-19. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the webcast will be made available via Zoom, YouTube and Facebook Live.

The webcast will feature live music and dance performances highlighting the wide variety of cultural influences that have taken root in Fargo-Moorhead and the Red River Valley. Performers will include Ricot Aladin playing traditional Haitian music, Christy Goulet and Kurtis Moose sharing songs and stories from Ojibwe and Dakota traditions, Be the Light performing traditional Mexican dance, the Buffalo River Singers and Dancers performing a variety of Indigenous songs and dances and Kori Arts sharing a variety of songs and stories from Africa. Other performances include Emy Miller’s introduction to Filipino song and dance and Margreat Sam’s Indian Dance. The event will be emceed by Chris Carlson and recorded by Moorhead Community Access Media.

While Pangea’s food, beverage, and market selections will not be available at the Hjemkomst Center this year, HCSCC’s museum galleries will also be open and free to the public on Saturday, Nov. 13. The museum’s current exhibitions include “Warriors in the North: Healing Through Art” and “Ihdago Manipi: Clay County at 150.”
Viewers can tune into the webcast through a variety of channels available at www.hcscconline.org/pangea2021.
