The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County has reopened its museum at the Hjemkomst Center to morning visitors following 14 months of closures and limited operations. The museum will now be open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The museum will also be open Tuesday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with free admission.
The change was made to better accommodate growing numbers of museum visitors while gallery capacities are limited to 50% by a Minnesota Emergency Executive Order. Museum visitors are still required to wear masks, maintain social distance and accommodate posted gallery capacities at the Hjemkomst Center. Museum staff continue to perform regular health checks and maintain an augmented cleaning schedule.
HCSCC’s current exhibitions include “The FMVA BIG Art Exhibition” and “Atomic Alert! Confronting the Bomb in the New Atomic Age,” and guided tours of the Moorhead Stave Church are offered on the hour.
