Now entering its 20th year, the Fargo Film Festival is the premier moving image event in the state of North Dakota. The 2020 festival will take place at the Fargo Theatre on March 17 – 21.
The Festival has announced the full screening schedule and kicks off on St. Patrick’s Day at 1:30 pm with The Kite. Special screenings include Balkowitsch on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, with the film’s subject Shane Balkowitsch and directors Chelsy Ciavarella and Gregory DeSaye live on stage for a Q and A immediately following the film.
Friday evening’s 7:00 pm screening of Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street will feature a Q and A immediately following the film with actor Mark Patton who appeared as Jesse Walsh in the 1985 horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge.
The 2-Minute Movie Contest has delighted curious Fargo Film Festival audiences for years. This fast-paced program, screening at 9:30 pm on Friday, features over 40 films of 120 seconds or less and spans all genres and includes work from filmmakers close to home and around the globe.
Saturday Morning Cartoons … For Adults kicks off the final day of the festival, with animated films. Highlights include the award-winning The Girl in the Hallway at 10:25 am, the 3D animated short The Fox and the Bird from Switzerland at 11:00 am, and Coaster with animators Dan Lund and Amos Sussigan on hand at 11:20 am.
Saturday evening the festival closes with a 7:15 pm screening of International Falls. The film follows Dee (The Daily Show’s Rachael Harris), a woman stuck in the Minnesota border town who has dreams of doing comedy when she meets a washed-up, burned-out comedian named Tim (Transparent’s Rob Huebel) with dreams of doing anything else. The film includes appearances by Kevin Nealon, Erik Griffin, Mindy Sterling and Jessie Sherman.
Please note, times and locations are subject to change. Tickets go on sale February 24 at noon at the Fargo Theatre. Visit the Fargo Film Festival website for details.
