The smell of coffee and fresh baked goods and the chatter of customers and vendors on warm Saturday mornings are all things we miss about the Red River Market. The Red River Winter Market will bring a taste of summer to the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead on Saturday, February 9th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Visitors will be able to shop for local food products, enjoy hot coffee, and listen to live music, all while in the warmth and comfort of the great indoors. A selection of hot foods will also be available including farmers market favorites like the French crepes from Deja Vu Catering and African lunch plates from Adibon.
Stock up on locally-made goods
This winter version of the weekly summer market will feature a wide variety of locally made pantry items including canned goods, honey, and hot sauce, household products like soaps and lotions, as well as arts and crafts. From fried pies from the Baker’s Wagon, to microgreens from Dirthead Farms, there is something for everyone at the event.
An Opportunity to Give Back
The Winter Market is also in celebration of the Red River Market’s participation in Giving Hearts Day on February 14th with a goal is to raise $14,000. Funds raised will continue valuable community programing including educational cooking demonstrations, live music and cultural performances, SNAP/EBT outreach, and children’s programming.
The Red River Market has partnered with Downtown Moorhead Inc. to host the market at the Hjemkomst Center. Their President and CEO, Derrick LaPoint, sees events as a catalyst for the community. “Downtown Moorhead Inc. and Red River Market share a similar vision by putting the community first and growing a strong urban core,” said LaPoint. “Events like these support the growing momentum for positive change in our downtown.”
