With a summer full of road construction, the lack of traffic has impacted many area businesses. Downtown Moorhead is no exception. It seems like every day we hear of another restaurant suffering or even closing.

With this in mind, we often try to choose restaurants in impacted areas. However, we often go out on Sundays or Mondays and many restaurants are understandably closed on those days. Wanting to go out on a Sunday afternoon, we found the perfect spot. Moorhead Billiards was open and at the edge of a road closure. Bonus, we got to play pool.

There were only a handful of people in the place, and we had a section all to ourselves. This can go one of two ways: you either get wonderful or terrible service. Here, we had wonderful service. We started with a Diet Pepsi, a Kona Big Wave, and an order of Taco Bombs. The drinks were cold, and the appetizer was hot, fresh, and delicious. The Taco Bombs are also fairly filling, so we split a sandwich. We ordered the Walleye Sandwich and Tots. It also came out hot and tasted fresh.

We had a great time playing pool and listening to rock music. They have several dart boards, pinball, and a few arcade games. There are also party rooms to rent that fit up to twenty to fifty people. With colder weather around the corner, we’ll definitely keep this place in mind for good bar food and a fun afternoon.
