Fargo-Moorhead’s largest farmer’s market, the Red River Market, will host the second of its winter indoor series with a market on Saturday, March 14th, at West Acres Mall.
The first market event in the series, hosted in tandem with Giving Hearts Day in February brought out 2,500 visitors to Moorhead Center Mall and helped to raise $19,218 from community donors.
This is the first time that the West Acres Mall will host the Red River Winter Market, which is in its fifth season. “We share a similar passion for community activation and support of local business,” said West Acres Senior Business Director, Alissa Adams. “Hosting the market at a shopping center, a natural marketplace and event hub makes it the perfect spot to reach a wide audience.”
While the market has traveled to many different locations in the Fargo-Moorhead area, West Acres will be the largest indoor venue to date. The practicality of the West Acres Mall will allow for easy visitor parking with plenty of room for attendees to shop both the vendor booths and the permanent stores located inside.
Attendees will be able to wander the familiar halls of West Acres and browse the many vendor booths while they escape the blustering winter conditions outdoors. The main stage will host a selection of live performances by local musicians, including Kwaician Traylor, Jake Ingamar, and Channing Minnema in the Buffalo Court. A selection of hot foods will also be available, featuring Jumbo’s Food Truck, Deb’s Corner, and Adibon Catering.
Duchessa Gelato’s freshly mixed gelato is made from milk right from their family’s cows in Carrington, North Dakota. “It’s fun to see demand for our frozen dessert even when the temperature drops over the winter months,” says gelato cart owner Maartje van Bedaf. “It brings us great joy to share our product with customers who have never tasted gelato before and to those that are familiar with gelato from Italy.”
Duchessa’s Gelato, along with over thirty other vendors, will be in attendance at the March 14 market.
