If you’re looking for great ways to send off 2018 in style, downtown has plenty of options that range from special dinners, live music, comedy, game nights and much more. NYE at Mezzaluna
5pm, Mezzaluna (309 Roberts St.)
Enjoy a four-course prefix menu to ring in the new year. The dinner will cost $45 per person for dinner, excluding beverages, but there will be a free champagne toast at midnight. Comedy in the Cellar – Steve Gillespie
8pm and 10:30pm, The Cellar at Front Street Taproom (614 Main Ave.)
Start out 2019 with some serious laughs from the professionals––Los Angeles-based comedian Steve Gillespie, Annick Adele and more! Back-to-back shows will take place, with the last show featuring a champagne toast at midnight. Pre-sale tickets are $15 and $20 at the door. The show is 21+ with a cash bar in the cellar.

A decade into his standup career, Steve Gillespie moved from Minneapolis to LA, where he recently appeared on Conan, and released his critically-acclaimed second album which reached No. 1 on the iTunes charts. Gillespie’s act is a slaphappy balance of aggression and absurdity. His antics and social commentary have earned him spots on Fox’s “Laughs,” a finalist in CMT’s “Next Big Comic,” and runner up for “Best of the Midwest” at Gilda’s Laughfest.

Jon Wayne & The Pain, The Human Element, Project 432

New Year’s Eve at the HoDo
9pm, Hotel Donaldson (101 Broadway)
In the restaurant, the menu will feature a delicious Surf & Turf dish, along with the regular menu, drinks and other special items. In the lounge, local favorites Heavy is the Head will be rocking out with roots reggae. No cover and music starts at 9pm.

New Year’s Eve Cocktail Experience
5pm, Twist (220 Broadway)
Sign yourself up for a cocktail experience you have likely never experienced before. Enjoy four incredible craft cocktails that will introduce a variety of both traditional and molecular mixology techniques. Twelve tickets are available at a variety of different times throughout the evening for only $30. The entire experience will take about an hour and a half and is the perfect way to kick off or wind down your New Year’s Eve.

Date Night: New Year’s Eve Dinner
6-9pm, Square One Rental Kitchen & Events (1407 1st Ave. N)
At this 60/40 hands-on to demonstration cooking class,, you’ll be preparing a delightful menu that features a smooth and creamy lobster bisque, roast New York strip with sautéed chard and gorgonzola polenta with a chocolate soufflé for dessert. Once you sit down to enjoy the meal you prepared, a complimentary champagne toast to 2019 will take place. $150 per couple.

The Final Helena Handbasket Show
10pm, Dempsey’s (226 Broadway)
A horn band made up of college musicians at NDSU was born in the fall of 2002. The seven-piece band called themselves “Patents Pending” and began playing gigs in the Fargo-Moorhead area. They quickly became a household name as an energetic and entertaining act. In 2007, the band changed their artistic direction and became Helena Handbasket and continued to melt faces with no apologies. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and for this local favorite, that end is on New Year’s Eve. No cover.

NYE Celebration at the Bomb Shelter

For $30 you can get all-you-can-drink specials from 9pm-close! Dance the night away with music from DJ Trix and enjoy a free champagne toast at midnight.

Low Standards NYE Bash at the Pickled Parrot
10pm, Pickled Parrot (505 3rd Ave. N)
Low Standards (90s/2000s cover masters) is ringing in 2019 in style with their most high-energy, throwback-filled show of the year. No cover needed to get in, and plenty of great drink specials will be happening all night.

New Year’s Eve Trivia
8:30pm, Rhombus Guys (606 Main Ave.)
Along with trivia, you can enjoy half-priced pizzas starting at 8:30pm! The theme is “2018 in review” and 1st place winners will receive a free bottle of champagne. Late-night happy hour starts at 10pm, and there will be a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

New Year’s Eve Tabletop Night
6pm, Paradox Comics-N-Cards (26 Roberts St.)
Celebrate 25 years of Paradox and join your fellow gamers for a board game party as you like it! The event center will be open all night for you, your family, and your games. Paradox has brand new game tables up and running, staff to demo and play with, and a holiday sale still going on. Magic players get their own big event as well––Commander is the ultimate fun way to play so there’s no better way to spend New Year’s Eve than piloting your coolest 100-card deck.

New Year’s Eve at Junkyard Brewery

The taproom will be open for extended hours until 1am and Junkyard has quite a few fun things planned, including the annual “keg drop” at midnight. There will also be a solid lineup of “Best of the Worst Music Videos” you can rock to all night in addition to special beer releases.
