HCSCC to open FMVA BIG Art Show on April 12 at the Hjemkomst Center

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will open their annual FMVA BIG Art Show featuring the work of the Fargo-Moorhead Visual Artists on Friday, April 12. The two local arts organizations are celebrating the exhibition with a free opening reception at the Hjemkomst Center on Tuesday, April 16, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.

The FMVA BIG Art Show is a regular feature in the Hjemkomst Center’s 4th Floor Gallery each spring, with pieces from local art educators, emerging artists, and established artists. The BIG Show offers one of the largest multimedia surveys of local art in the region, as well as an interesting look at the trends and prominent themes at work among Fargo-Moorhead artists. This year’s show includes about 75 pieces in ceramics, textiles, oils, watercolors, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. FMVA screen printer and exhibition lead Amanda Heidt sees tremendous growth in the show’s quality, also noting the “wonderful variety in this year’s show.”

The BIG Art Show will be on exhibition in the Hjemkomst Center’s 4th Floor Gallery through June 9. The opening reception on April 16 will include refreshments and remarks. The reception is both free and open to the public.

The FMVA BIG Art Show is funded in part by grants from The Arts Partnership, The North Dakota Council on the Arts, and The Alex Stern Family Foundation
