Wine Class – Vermouth
May 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

In America, vermouth is most famous as an ingredient in classic drinks like the Martini and Manhattan. Yet despite this fame, people rarely know much about it. Few could tell you that is in fact a type of wine and not a spirit. The name vermouth derived from the German vermouth, meaning wormwood, a key ingredient in this beverage. Vermouth is a fortified wine, like a port or a sherry, but it is also aromatized, that is, infused with botanicals to give it a distinctive flavor. Beyond this it is a broad category, having undergone many historical, geographical, and commercial transformations.
In this class, Evan Christie will lead you on a tasting of the many styles of vermouth – from the classic sweet red vermouth that hail from Torino to the dry and sweet white styles pioneered by the producers of Chambéry in France. You will see the new and innovative vermouths, such as rosé and ambre, as well as vermouth with different bases. Discover one of the most underappreciated beverages in the world of wine!
Must be 21+ to attend.
