Join Certified Sommelier Joshua Voytek on an exploration of wines from the South of France in regions like the Languedoc, Rouissilon, and Gascogne. While the premiere French regions of Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, the Loire Valley and the Rhône Valley tend to attract a lot of acclaim for French wines, these regions also are often quite beholden to tradition and weather, sometimes showing significant swings from vintage to vintage. In contrast, the regions in the South of France tend to be warmer and with more versatility for innovative winemakers, leading to some fun and unique expressions of French wines that are often more in sync with those used to drinking U.S. style wines. As a result, these wines are often a great value and a good introduction to the often confusing world of French wines.
