Wine Class: French Chardonnay with Sommelier Joshua Voytek
January 23 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Please join 99 Bottles and Sommelier Joshua Voytek as we explore the world of wine!
Chardonnay. The king of white wine and the most widely planted white grape in the world, this noble grape originated in the region of Burgundy, France. Although some of the most expensive and highest rated Chardonnays in the world come from this region, even the region of Burgundy itself produces a wide range of white wines made from Chardonnay in a variety of qualities and price points. There is truly a lot to explore in terms of styles of Chardonnays from France, depending on the terroir of these regions and winemaking practice. For a lot of people, there is some fatigue regarding Chardonnay, due to a predominance of oak in many of the American Chardonnays on the market, resulting in big, bold, buttery wines. This class will be a chance to try a great lineup of different Chardonnays in quality regions in the east-central part of France in and near Burgundy to see the many different styles that can be represented based on terroir and to develop a new appreciation for this grape.
